Meet Jordan: A Dream Waiting to Take Flight.

In the heart of Uganda, where the red earth meets an endless sky, the Mumwe Heart of God Foundation walks a path of service, seeking not just to provide aid, but to nurture the God-given potential simmering within the communities we serve. We believe that every life is a vessel of divine purpose, a unique dream waiting for the moment it can take flight. Today, we want you to meet Jordan whose story is a testament to this truth.

Analyzing his dream.

Jordan is a young man from the small village of Katwe, a place defined by its resilience and its challenges. For most of his life, his world was measured by the boundaries of his family’s small plot of land and the daily struggle for sustenance. Yet, Jordan’s gaze was often fixed upward. While others saw only the sun and the rain, Jordan saw the vast, open space of possibility and his dream was not of wealth or escape, but of service, he dreamed of flight.

Not for himself, but for his community. Jordan, a self-taught tinkerer with a mind blessed by God with an incredible aptitude for engineering, envisioned a future where technology could serve the soil, he dreamed of building a drone. Not a weapon of war, but a tool of peace a farmer’s eye in the sky that could monitor crop health, identify pest infestations before they spread, and help his neighbors coax a more bountiful harvest from the land they love.

In a village with limited electricity and no access to formal engineering training, this dream seemed impossible. Jordan’s workshop was a patchwork of salvaged parts: broken radios, old mobile phones, and discarded wires. His schematics were drawn in the dust on the floor and in worn notebooks. He faced not just the technical hurdles, but the quiet skepticism of those who saw him as a dreamer wasting precious time. Yet, Jordan persisted, driven by a faith that whispered his purpose was greater than his circumstances.

Our focus as Mumwe

Our team at the Mumwe Heart of God Foundation met Jordan during a community outreach program and we found him hunched over an intricate web of circuits, his face alight with a holy fire of concentration. He didn’t just explain his project but he poured out his vision for a thriving, self-sufficient Katwe and in that moment, we saw more than a clever young man; we saw a divine calling. We saw a dream that the heart of God had placed within him, and we knew our role was to help give it wings.

We did not simply hand Jordan a cheque but we also committed ourselves to walking alongside him. We provided him with a dedicated workspace, access to a laptop with an internet connection, and, most importantly, mentorship. We connected him with a Ugandan engineer who volunteered his time, guiding Jordan through the complex principles of aerodynamics and coding. The foundation supplied the specific components he couldn’t salvage: a flight controller, a reliable motor, and a lightweight camera.

The transformation was miraculous to witness and the boy who tinkered with scraps began to assemble a sophisticated machine. It was a collaboration of divine talent, human perseverance, and communal support. Last month, on a bright, breezy afternoon, the entire village gathered to watch. With a trembling hand and a prayer on his lips, Jordan initiated the sequence. The propellers, a blur of motion, lifted his creation off the ground and a cheer erupted from the crowd as the drone, a testament to one man’s faith and a community’s hope, soared into the Ugandan sky.

Jordan’s dream has taken flight, but its journey has just begun and this drone is already being used to survey the fields, and its data is promising a better harvest for the coming season. Jordan is now teaching other young people in the village, igniting a new generation of innovators. His story is a powerful reminder that when we invest in the dreams God plants in the hearts of His people, we are not just changing one life; we are empowering a community to soar.

At the Mumwe Heart of God Foundation, we are committed to finding more Jordans, and more dreams waiting to take flight, reach us via our [email protected] or call us on +256700135510 for support.
