From Fever to Future: Join Us in the Fight to End Malaria.

In the heart of Ntungamo District, where the green hills meet a sky full of promise a silent war is being waged. It’s a fight against a tiny foe, the mosquito, that casts along, dark shadow over our communities. At the Mumwe Heart of God Foundation, we see the devastating toll of this battle every day in the vacant eyes of a child weakened by fever, in the anxiety of a parent who has lost a week’s wages to care for their family, and in the heartbreaking silence of a life cut short.

Malaria is not just a disease here; it is a thief. It steals childhoods, potential, and prosperity. For a childlike five-year-old Amina, a simple mosquito bite meant weeks away from her friends at school, her bright spirit dimmed by a relentless cycle of fever and chills and for a farmer like Robert, it meant lying in bed during the critical planting season, watching his family’s future wither alongside his strength. This is the reality for thousands in Ntungamo, where the landscape, though beautiful, provides countless breeding grounds for this deadly parasite

But we refuse to accept this reality. We believe that every child deserves the chance to laugh, learn, and grow up healthy, we believe that Ntungamo can be a place where malaria is a memory, not a daily threat, that is why the Mumwe Heart of God Foundation is on the front lines, fighting to turn the tide.

Our Mission of a three-Pronged Attack on Malaria

We are not outsiders but rather we are part of this community and our approach is rooted in local knowledge and a deep commitment to sustainable change as we fight malaria based on the three critical fronts;

Prevention through Education: We don’t just hand out nets but we build a shield of knowledge and our team holds community workshops and school programs, teaching families how to identify and eliminate standing/stagnant water where mosquitoes breed from, we empower local leaders and mothers to become malaria prevention champions, ensuring that life-saving information spreads from household to household.

Rapid Response and Treatment: When a fever strikes, every hour counts and that’s why we train and equip Village Health Teams (VHTs) trusted local volunteers who are the first responders in their communities. We provide them with rapid diagnostic test kits and life-saving anti-malarial drugs. This means a childlike Amina can be tested and treated in her own village, within 24 hours, preventing a simple case from becoming a fatal emergency.

Strengthening Local Health Systems: We work hand-in-hand with government health centres right from the Health Centre II to the top on the referral hospital, supporting their staff and supplementing critical supplies during peak transmission seasons. By strengthening the entire health infrastructure, we ensure that the most severe cases have access to the care they need.

Your Gift is a Powerful Weapon.

We have the strategy, the dedication, and the community trust to make a real difference but we cannot do it alone that’s why we need you to join us in this fight, your generous donation will be translated directly into life-saving action on the ground.

A gift of $25 can provide a rapid diagnostic test and a full course of life-saving treatment for one child, ensuring they recover quickly.

A gift of $50 can equip a Village Health Team volunteer with a Malaria rresponse kits; including test kits, medicines, and educational materials to protect an entire village.

A gift of $100 can fund a community outreach workshop, teaching 50 families how to malaria-proof their homes and save lives.

No amount is too small. Every dollar is a step towards a future where parents don’t have to fear a mosquito’s buzz, and children can thrive without the threat of fever.
